Who’s behind it all?

My name is Alex Powell.

I was fortunate to build my career early—touring internationally in my early twenties and releasing music across the global dance scene. Over the years, I’ve worked as a writer, producer, and engineer, with releases spanning most of the major dance imprints and all three major labels.

About ten years ago, my focus shifted.

What started as curiosity quickly became an obsession: mixing, tweaking, and mastering.

After years as an artist—still very much an artist—I became deeply invested in the final stages of music-making. The refinement. The detail. The difference between a good record and one that truly connects. I’ve since become the engineer of choice for over 300 clients, honing a process built around precision, musicality, and respect for the artist’s vision.

That drive comes from experience. Like many producers, I spent years navigating gatekeeping, mixed messages, and the frustration of knowing what I wanted my music to sound like—but not always being able to get there. That struggle shaped how I work today.

My approach is obsessive in the right ways: detail-focused, honest, and always in service of the music.
